JournalRight privacy policy
SVELA AI SOFTWARE LABS PRIVATE LIMITED operates JournalRight, a Microsoft Word add-in for manuscript completeness, journal-profile checks, and manuscript reporting. This policy explains JournalRight's local document processing and its separate JournalRight account service.
1. Manuscript processing
Scanning starts when you choose to scan. JournalRight reads available content from the open Word document, including text, formatting, references, citations, tables, captions, and supported objects. It constructs findings and counts locally in the add-in runtime. Scanning does not upload manuscript content to Svela or modify the manuscript. Navigation may change the Word selection to show evidence.
Host limitations can prevent reading some regions or objects; the report identifies coverage limits. Microsoft hosts your document and provides the Word runtime under its own policies. Using Word on the web does not mean your document is stored only on your device.
2. Accounts and preferences
Registration, email verification, and sign-in to a separate JournalRight account are required before scanning. Sign-in, registration, verification, password reset, and account checks communicate over HTTPS with JournalRight's account endpoints. We process name, email, optional organisation details, password hashes, verification challenge records, sessions, and product-origin information for account administration and security. JournalRight keeps interface preferences such as zoom in local browser storage. Manuscript content is not part of account requests.
3. Providers and purposes
We use account information to authenticate users, verify email ownership, reset passwords, administer accounts, and respond to support or security requests. Zoho ZeptoMail processes recipient addresses and transactional email content. Hosting and database providers process service and account records; Microsoft provides Word. These providers apply their own policies.
4. Retention, security, and your requests
Scan results are held in the add-in's current session. JournalRight account records and operational backups are retained according to service operation and applicable obligations. Passwords and verification codes are stored as hashes; codes are time-limited and single-use. No security measure eliminates every risk.
For access, correction, export, deletion, or privacy questions, email support@refright.app. We may need to verify account ownership. Backup copies may retain removed records until their normal rotation. RefRight accounts and reference-processing features are separate from JournalRight. Signing in or resetting a password in JournalRight does not change your RefRight account.
5. Support and contact
We process information you voluntarily share with support. Do not send confidential manuscript content unless necessary and agreed with support.
